Glacier Walk

Brian and I received a free Glacier Helicopter tour for our help with the Juneau Cancer Walk. We got lucky and had a fantastic sunny day for our trip in mid-September.

Walking on the glacier was really cool. You did have to look out for holes, rivers, ridges, etc.
This is a "hut" that the tour company keeps on the glacier during the summer months. It provides shelter and some basic necessities if a tour group is stranded because of weather or mechanical. One of the guides told us that they did have some trouble with weather one day and a tour group had to spend about 8 hours in the thing. That would be an experience wouldn't it!!

These pictures don't do the glacier justice. The ice was so brilliant blue or white in spots; the color in these doesn't even come close.
The sun was just setting behind the mountains when our tour was done. When the sun disappeared, the temperature began to drop instantly!

It's Been a Long Time

Well, it has been so long since I posted anything, that I thought I would start with the oldest updates first. Don't want anyone to miss the amazing changes in Kylie and how she is growing; or the fun we have with Amy and Neka on our excursions. We took these pictures in September.

Amy with her new knife whittling on a stick at camp. She is really turning into an outdoor girl. I made the "crown" she is wearing out of long grass. She thought that was really great.

Amy with her weapons and dressed like a native princess. We had gone for a walk in the morning (at the campground) and it was a little cool. Amy didn't want to get dressed, so she just went in her pajamas. By the time we got back to camp, the sun had come out and really warmed things up and she was getting hot. She took the pants and tied them around her waist like a loin cloth and then tied the top under her arms. She sure has a vivid imagination!

A Wedding Took Place......

On August 28, 2010; 3:00 p.m., Jesse and Karla exchanged marriage vows at the Glacier Visitor Center here in Juneau.

Kylie's New Toy

I bought this toy a couple of weeks ago.
The first video is the first time that she "played" with it.
I think she did great!!!
She is getting so more active, so she really got some good play time in.

Well, I did it, I got the video download to work. (Thanks to Tracy who called all the way from Germany!!)

Anyway, here is a video of Amy sneaking up on a Mama and two baby deer that we saw in the meadow while we were camping. It was so funny to watch her, she is so cute!! Nana and Papa sure love her.
